    DETAILS

Technological advances in the past three decades have brought on a veritable revolution in observational astronomy.
In particular, ground-based, high-resolution optical observations have allowed the study of resolved stellar populations in our Galaxy, at an unprecedented level of detail.

High-resolution spectrographs, especially when coupled with high-multiplexing capabilities, have allowed the detailed study of atmospheric compositions for large numbers of stars in all Galactic components and in the local group, leading to some key findings, such as the ubiquitousness of multiple populations in Globular Clusters.

The development of high-resolution, extremely stable spectrographs has driven to the first detection of an exoplanet. Additionally, the advent of high-contrast imagers have made possible the direct detection of extrasolar planets.

The European community has played an important role in these areas. Raffaele Gratton has been a pivotal figure in this domain, authoring several foundational works on the study of ancient Galactic Stellar Populations and the detection and characterization of exoplanetary systems. Furthermore, he has played a significant role in the advancement of crucial instrumentation.
This meeting is intended to celebrate his many contributions and accomplishments.

We aim at bringing together experts in the fields of high-resolution observations of resolved Galactic stellar populations and exoplanet detection and characterisation. We will review advancements, examine challenges and open questions, and discuss plans and opportunities offered by the upcoming massive volumes of spectroscopic and imaging data in their corresponding fields.
